The benefits of Pilates don’t just start and finish in a class. Undertaking regular Pilates classes re-trains your body on how to move and engage muscles as you go about your daily business, improving your daily health.

Pilates can be general, or it can be quite individually specific depending on what you would like to achieve. Many of our clients undertake Pilates for injury prevention and rehabilitation, as they work to lengthen and strengthen their muscles.

Regular Pilates engagement enhances flexibility along with muscular strength and endurance. Through the activation of prime mover groups along with smaller intrinsic muscles, joint stabilisation and balance is enhanced, reducing injuries and falls.

Pilates movements focus on core control and core stabilisation which assists in posture immobility and day-to-day functional movements. It's also a beautiful form of exercise that helps cultivate the mind body connection, body awareness and body control.

Between strengthening classes and stretch classes, it combines the best of both worlds. Anyone can attend classes as each exercise, or each class is modified or progressed in various ways to make it achievable for everyone. There are different forms of exercises and various techniques used. We assist clients with modifications for their specific needs.

Pilates wakes up your proprioceptive system so you're more body concious. Your body responds naturally to certain stimulus causing your body to feel more alive. You're able to accomplish more tasks with greater agility and greater responsiveness and just greater feeling so you really can put more into the task.

So of course, for sports or any other activity you are much more efficient and have more power. Pilates also causes you to feel more of those muscles you didn’t realise you had, allowing more control and emphasis on them.

The neuromuscular control learned in Pilates allows you to isolate muscles throughout the day. For example, sections of your abdominals, or glutes. Clients regularly report back to us that their rock-climbing ability or golf swing has improved, which is a fantastic endorsement for Pilates and an acknowledgement of increased body awareness, essentially leading to more complex movements.
